So Yen, We Used to be Friends

For those of you playing at home, who may not be familiar with me as a person, here is a quick synopsis for you.

Kerry: (Verb)  A highly educated member of society that likes to keep abreast of world issues and the way that they shall effect upon her life and general well being. Also know to have a slight inclination to sugar and shiney things. All round Good Guy

Whilst some of the above is true and some is partly fiction there are some world issues going on at the moment that are forcing me to keep abreast (I generally keep two, but each to their own) and subsequently causing me a hell of a lot of problems. So I ask the world leaders "Yo!!! What you do to our economy Niggas?" If anyone has been following world Currencies over the last few weeks they would have seen the heart breaking story of a strong Australian dollar that has been neglecting its work outs and protein powders and all its mates have chosen to go to the pub instead of to the gym. In short, technical terms, as my dad would say "its Fucked"

Whilst getting ready for my holiday I did a planning budget (yeah I know... organised... scary) the yen was sitting at a healthy 82 and things in Kerry land were happy. Being conservative and being in a some what finance related job I knew that markets change regularly so I thought to myself, "Yes, I will do my Budget at 75, give myself some breathing room, it will be apples" So turns out that even my conservative budgeting and estimations were off the mark. The Yen cash rate has tumbled to 67!!!! At this point life is officially over

Below is an exert from a real conversation by your leading lady and her Mr Miyagi that illustrates the seriousness of the situation

Kerry: The yen just dropped to 73. I'm going to slit my wrists
Kev: I already started and am bleeding out into old tomato sauce bottles so I make less mess and so when they find me they find me they put away the saucebottles and they will say "who was the silly billy who left these out here" and when they use it on food they can taste my despair
Kerry: Good Plan. I am off on a hunt to find saucebottles

Taste my Despair...

The implications for us on a lower Yen are astronomical, our $4000 car is now $4750, the tours that we booked went from costing us $388 to $418 (and dont you worry there was a strongly worded email in relation to this, but that rant is for another post) and most important my $3 beer will now cost $4. How am I supposed to get drunk and attractive on these exorbitant prices? (I can hear all of your our in reading land breath a sigh of relief for the young boys that may be spared from my clutches due to my lack of booze...)

So for now, there is little I can do, but pray for a recovery and look for someone to buy my Kidneys (I have two, and I am not greedy, I am willing to share) So world leaders, if you are reading this and why wouldnt you, because it is awesome and educational please sort your shit out, I got shit to do and people to see and you are kinda getting in the way of that.

Beware the Sauce Bottles

Thanks to Luke Streat for this Awesome Video of Japan Times last year. I get sad about the Yen and then I watch these videos and go, well hell yeah, I may not be able to eat for 3 weeks and might end up sleeping on the street... but this will make it all worth it

Two Guys, a Girl and a Team Name

I ponder the question "Can you have an awesome experience without an awesome team name?" I am of the personal opinion of no. So we have been set the challenge of finding a team name that suits our group dynamic. So what name would you suggest for a short asian, a tall white women and a small little blonde tag along... After some brain storming we came up with the following

Team Tampon - Stuck Up C*nts
The boys in their brilliance feel that this is the best name for a team, sadly I do not so much agree with their sentiments. While its guise is clever, the connotations not so much. I can see the general populous coming to the general consensus that as the only female in the group there must be some disturbing story pertaining to tampons and my existence. And jokes about  menstruation aren't funny - Period. Though in saying that a white car with a string hanging off the tow hook would in some ways be amusing, I will give you that

Team Bad Touch - It Never Happened
This team name was suggested by Derek. The general idea is that by the time we are finished with you, you will be sitting in the bottom of the shower and wishing to never mention it again. I stand by my excuse that the beer made me do it (yes all of it). If Japan did not want me to ravage it they wouldn't sell large cans of Beer for 300Yen at ever 7/11. If you ask me, they are asking for the bad touch

Team Gropezilla
This one doesn't really need any explanation... I am tall and could be mistaken for Godzirra and I like to touch young men. I look upon this as an genetic disposition that has been passed down from generation to generation. Thank you mother for my passion (and possibly my perversion?). If it happens in another country, and a tree falls in the forest, and someone pisses in the ocean does it actually really count?

Team Zombie -  We Need Brains
Who flys to the other side of the world, buys a car and trys to drift with no experience. Other than Mr Miyagi we are a green crew. We ain't got shit and other than my whoopsie street drifting back in the day I have nothing!!!! I am not afraid to tell you that I cant even do a skid (well there was this one time at truck stop... and then a man came... then my car stopped working... the end) I am trading my kidneys in for money to go with all possibility that I am going to Bin the car (or one of the boys will) and then its game over. Clearly not my brightest brainiest moment. And what would Mr Nissan think about what I am going to do to his creation.... why wont someone think of the Mr Nissan!!!!!!

I think we are set on Team Zombie, with a personal name of Gropezirra for me (hence the ingenious blog name. Oh yeah see what I did there!!!) but hey a rose by any other name would still as sweet right, so whats in a name... what ever its called, its gonna be called awesome.

On the final count down now, 39 days to go, a car still to source and some fears to get over, but hey -  BRING IT!!!!!!!!!!

Until next time

If we break it, never fear!!! Matsuri Mechanics to the Rescue

In the beginning....

So here is how it started.... I went to Japan last year. I came home. I told EVERYONE (yes everyone) about how amazing my adventures were. I put the thrill of the track in them and there has been a burning need in me since (no not that burning, they have creams for that you know) to dive back into a place that embraced me and stole my heart. And the rest I guess is history (well lets call it history because I am unable to remember that part of the story). I decided that I wanted to drive Matsuri this year, but as I haven't driven a performance car in about 18 months I needed a teacher, cue Kev (we can refer to him as Mr Miyagi, I am sure thats fine and not in the least bit racist) I some how convinced him that it would be a good idea to come to Japan with me and teach me all his ninja ways. The plan was set, we would go to Japan, we would drift Ebisu and we would be famous (may or may not happen.... stay tuned for further updates on this)

The Ticket that was, then wasnt, but now is again!!!

Happy Birthday Jetstar, thanks for turning something and having a take a friend for free, it just so happens that I have a friend and they surprisingly want to go to the same place as me. Yay lets book tickets!!!!

Fast forward two weeks, another Japan planning party to book the next leg of our trip. Oh wait, panic stations I cant find the email confirming our flights, surely I wouldnt have deleted it, surely. I turned to Mr Miyagi to get him to check if the money for our tickets had come off his credit card....

hahahahahahahaha so turns out dont let the asian handle your Japan tickets!!!! Kev forgot to push confirm so now we have no tickets. What a doofus

Disaster!!!! No tickets. Lesson Learnt, never let a man organise something important (clearly though we have rebooked because otherwise this pointless blog, would be more pointless)

So we are off, we leave 30th October and what is set to come  is a rediscovery, a destroying, a learning and hopefully an awakening. My motivation is different for this trip and I am interested to see how this changes my experience. Also after doing my last trip solo its going to be a whole new experience travelling with other people. On a positive I will have someone to hold my hair when I spew and I am excited to show the boys the exciting things that I found

So stay tuned, keep updated and I will leave you with this. This video gets me excited every time I watch it... this video was shot at the Matsuri that I was at last year. LETS DO THIS SHIT!!!!!!

Love and Excited Peeing
